New FC4 install will not boot -

I had trouble installing until I entered "linux text" and then things
seemed to go to the very end without a hitch. Then an error message
flashed on the screen but was gone before I could read and copy it?

I removed the CD as requested and reboot proceeds normally to
"initializing hardware" and it offers interactive boot "press i" and the
screen goes blank white. If I press "i" it eventually deteriorates to
an unreadable display of vertical lines?

This is a new install on a new hard drive. In desperation I installed
Windows 2000 in a 16 gig partition, that went smoothly and works well,
FC-4 is installed on the remaining 60 g.

The main board is an ASUS A7V and an AMD processor that runs at 1000 mHz.

Further hunting around produced the following:

TThe video board giving me trouble is apparently similar, a "Trident
Blade 3D."

Is there anyway I can correct this problem without installing FC3?

Thank you.
