Mounting a USB camera

What shows in /var/log/messages when the camera is attached?
What does dmesg say about the same?

If it does not show in one of those two places it likely did not get a
device name added, so may not be usable.  If it does show there you can
try manually mounting it.

For example, if it shows as sdb1 then you can try 'mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt'
and see what happens.
