up2date vs. yum

up2date (or to be more accurate, rhn-applet) may blink attractively, but
in FC4 its default (and most useful) configuration simply doesn't work,
so it can't tell you whether your system is up to date or not.

Yum is the thing being actively developed so I'd go for that.
