KDE vs Gnome

My personal preference is gnome - though I may switch one machine to KDE
simply because KDE has come a long way since I last gave it a fair
shake.

If managing music is really important to you - the best apps to do that
are KDE apps (amorok and k3b). You can of course run them in gnome,
though - if you like.
