One more... if you are on x86_64, you can have 32-bit packages for
things installed which are not visible to 64-bit apps that want them,
and vice versa.  Check arches of things you think are related if you are
on x86_64...

rpm -q packagename --queryformat "%{NAME} %{ARCH}"
