Disabling HAL

You can probably stop HAL by running "service haldaemon stop" as
root. Running "chkconfig haldaemon off" should stop it from running.

But why do you want to do it? You will looses a lot of functionality
in FC5 if you disable HAL. Maybe if you told us the problem you are
trying to solve, we can suggest a less drastic way of doing it.
