As I was troubled by this new wierd problem I first registered a bug,
the URL for which is :

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7395

The problem was that I was supposed to supply a modeline myself. The
following URL is very helpful in generating one for you.

http://www.dkfz-heidelberg.de/spec/linux/modeline/

I was successfully able to run this monitor at 1024x768 at 60Hz resolution
by supplying the following modeline at depth 24.

Monitor : LG Studioworks 55v

# V-freq: 59.60 Hz // h-freq: 47.47 KHz
Modeline "1024x768" 60.00 1024 1056 1128 1264 768 768 770 796

This is for info, if maybe someone else is also looking for it. This
modeline is also added in xtra comments section of bug 7395
