could compile kernel from kernel.org for fedora?

Hi, all,

Now I use fedora 3, kernel 2.6.11-1.35_FC3smp, so now I want to
upgrade kernel, because I need to add PPTP function to my pc.
So could I download source from kernel.org and compile for fedora?
if not, how could I do? or maybe I need to download from fedora?

Any tips will be welcome.
