Unfortunately I don't think ac adaptors are generally interchangeable
between brands. Doing a little digging I worked out that my dell ac adaptor
and the laptop actually talk to each other a bit when they are plugged in,
so the pc can determine what capabilities the adaptor has. Also different
companies tend to have different shaped plugs (just to be annoying...).

Anyway, I found a friend with the same adaptor, tried it and low and behold
it fixed my problems with that, so I am happy as it is a cheap adaptor to
replace and not an expensive DELL repair...

However, it this may not be the whole story as I think during the short time
I tried out his adaptor I did experience a lock up in cpuspeed at
hibernation which was fixed by a reboot. I am not sure since I only had it
for a short time, so I'll find out more when I have a new adaptor.

One thing - I guess other people also experiencing this have tested their ac
adaptors ? If yours are OK and you also experience this then I guess there
definitely is something else going on ?

Cheers Chris
