To the best of my knowledge, that controller uses something called AHCI
(http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imst/sb/CS-012304.htm). AHCI is
described as a "nice, open design" by Jeff Garzik
(http://linux-ata.org/driver-status.html#ahci) who is behind the current
Linux SATA support.

I'm surprised that it doesn't "just work". As other people have
suggested, you might try playing with what BIOS options you have. You
might also care to try the latest Rawhide rescue CD
(http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/i386/iso/)
to see if that can detect the drive. If it can't, please post a bug in
Bugzilla. If it *can*, try a respin from the Fedora Unity project.

Any drivers you need will come as part of the kernel, not as a separate
download.
