Try this in /etc/mail/sendmail.mc:
define(`confDONT_PROBE_INTERFACES', `True')
As root, type
# make -C /etc/mail
Restart sendmail.
Now sendmail won't try to look up the address(es) of your machine in
the in-addr.arpa domain.
