Heck, KDE isn't on there now, so to speak. I cruised over to the KDE
site and there are more applications than I ever dreamed of! I mean some
really cool stuff, so if we have just one guy to maintain all that we
have now, why not get it more into the community, especially if the
Distros become more cohesive in file structures, as promised? Give him
some relief, and any KDE problems will become KDE's problems. That's a
treat, not a threat. Heck, they even have a kde shockwave editor! "It's
on the Big Board!" <gestures frantically>  Ohmygosh! Audio applications
that actually show large approval ratings for actually working! As
Jackie Gleason would say, back in our day, "And away we go!"

There must have been 20 different video editors, players, effects
composers, mixers. Audio had about 40. Graphical applications by the
score. Sure, put it all on another CD. Gimmie a text install anytime...
yum seems to work much quicker in level 3 than level 5... who needs that
grief of Gnome OR KDE overhead during an install? Bahhh... 

I am all in favor of whatever will get me the most selection of working
applications the fastest with minimum effort and trouble. I see no
reason someone on this very list couldn't burn and sell DvD's for those
who are bandwidth, or technologically challenged. Make it a good price
and most in here will buy them just to save precious time. I might order
a set, just to save me the grief and grind. 

So, I see no downside to KDE being on the second disk or the 5th disk, I
do not care as long as the installer allows me to pick 'em by individual
selection, group or 'everything' and they are installed in a working and
usable state. I vote for a text install, heck yes. Get the heavies;
harddrive partitioning, base utils, kernel, networking, printing, USB,
sound, all setup prior to the graphical, as quickly and efficiently as
possible. All the rest, I could not care less at what point they become
installed. That's my 2 cents, Ric


p/s All I really want is XCthugha and they've been inert for 5 years.
<sigh>  I miss that one.
