There's usually not much to know::
rdesktop hostname_or_IP
and you connect.  If you need some non-default settings,
rdesktop --help shows all the options.
Set up your XP desktop as though you planned to connect
from another windows box and rdesktop should work the
same way.

If you don't have it:
yum install rdesktop
 nothing new there...
