Failed installs of RSS reader

As a new Linux user and newer still to Fedora Core 5 I have twice tried
to add a RSS reader to my setup with, for example,  su -c 'yum install
rssowl'.

Everything seems to be okay - for example last night 79 packages were
downloaded and RSSOWL duly appeared in my Internet Apps list.

But when I try to run it, it seems to start then crashes.  The same
happened with BLAM.

Presumably since this occurred twice I am consistently doing something
wrong. Help will be appreciated.
