how did you do this?
do you now have all of the relevant metadata and config files for FC4?

what errors do you get when you run yum?
does it run at *all* ?
without that info all I can do is guess...
do all of your yum configs point to FC4 sources?
where were your original MySQL files from?

assuming yum at least tries to run...
try installing this:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/4/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/fedora-release-4-2.noarch.rpm
then
yum clean metadata
yum install yum
