Nvidia Twinview and gnome panel

Hi, I have been using the twinview feature of the nvida gfx cards for
over a year now with out any problem.

the Gnome panels recocnised the physical screens, just as windows do
when expanmded.  that is to say I had a panel on each physical screen,
and the task list in each panel would show only the windows on that
physical screen.

Today, for resaons I unsure of the panels now stretch accros both
physical screens rather than restraining them selves.  Windows still
behave corectly when maximised.

Any clues?
