Bad sector

I'd be suspicious of any disc with bad sectors, they have a tendency to
spread.

If the bad sectors aren't anywhere where the file system is using the
drive, it wouldn't see any filing system errors.  That could be because
that part of the drive isn't in use, yet.  It could be that the bad
sectors have been mapped out of use.  That's nothing to rely on, though,
as I said, bad sectors have a tendency to expand.
