tab completion works for me - perhaps you are doing something that isn't
invoking the user environment...

su - # invokes user environment
su # doesn't invoke user environment
su - craig # invokes user environment
su craig # doesn't invoke user environment

<Page Up> goes to top of history (oldest)
<Page Down> goes to bottom of history (no command)
