Having followed this thread, I feel a bit embarrassed. Complaining to myself
about spam, it seems I'm adding to bandwidth wastage by normally using reply
to all when replying to mailing lists. I've just added "reply to mailing
list" to Kmail's toolbar, which seems to be the correct way to go. If you use
reply, or reply to, and the "To" line shows both the originators address, and
the mailing list's address, both addresses are emailed. Reply all, obviously
does just that, including anything in CC. This often results in bounces from
the mail originator. My crummy ISP that seems to be favourable to spam is
having DNS servers blocked by SORBS, and others, resulting in bounces, and
more wasted bandwidth. This is another good reason for using "reply to
mailing list"

Question: I download email using Kmail directly from my ISP's pop3 server.
I don't get a lot of spam, and can put up with the 419's, "you have won the
lottery", and so on. The stuff that sickens me is, viagra ads, cialis
(whatever that is), and how to make your procreation tool larger ads. This
sort of stuff can turn up in young peoples inboxes, even childrens. Is there
something I can use with Kmail on FC2, that I DL my mail to, that will detect
the spam and just trash it.

I could rant on about the ISP's responsibility to stop spam at source, but
that's a right waste of time. They are only interested in getting their
monthly payments from their clients. whether they are spammers, or clients
with compromised Windows machines, who due to their own stupidity, naivety,
have allowed their machines to be used by spammers as relay stations for
spam. End of partial rant.

A tip on how to get rid of the sex spam would be appreciated.

Nigel.
