OT: buring iso images onto CD-R from DVD

Let's see if it really is an ISO file. What does the "file" command
think of your ISO file?

For example:
$ file FC4-i386-DVD.iso
FC4-i386-DVD.iso: ISO 9660 CD-ROM filesystem data 'FC/4 i386 DVD #9
' (bootable)
