A question about NetworkManager

nm-applet is the client gui for NetworkManager.  You do not need to add
interfaces to NetworkManager because it uses HAL to detect your
networking hardware.  Just add nm-applet to your gnome-session startup
programs and you should get the gui interface you are looking for.
