Seems to me that the problem was that I had more than one copy of the
browser open. I tried adding the plugin a few times and it finally
worked. Sorry but I can't be any more specific than that. But I
don't recall that SELinux was turned off yet at that point (but there
is a possibility that it might have been - I should have kept notes
for such a reason or for myself in case I ran across it again later).
