continual EDAC errors on i865 chipset machine since kernel ~2040

I noted the FC5T3+updates machine was getting these continual notices to
the active terminal about the time that Fedora was released. I have
since installed the final version, and the error messages are still there.

I found out that EDAC is a ECC checking mechanism for the chipset, and
the info about the module says there can be many reasons for giving the
error. On it's advice, I ran memtest86 for 58 hours over the weekend,
but no error was detected (this fits with my view that the machine is
otherwise fast and responsive). memtest shows the ram as not ecc ram
which I believe is correct.

Is there a known problem with the module (added to kernel 2.6.16) in
that it incorrectly loads and warns when it shouldn't ?
