Coincidentally you found the answer to my problem also, MySql5 now runs 
in the other
computer I wrote about earlier: "Problem mysql 4.1 to mysql5"

Just needed "compat-libstdc++-33" which yum had left in this computer 
and I copied/installed the rpm.
