RPM vs YUM

Basically, yes they are. YUM actually uses the RPM database to figure
out what is installed, and then checks it against its database to see
what updates are available.

Cheers!

Subject: RPM vs YUM

Hey mates,

Probably a really stupid question but...

Are packages (.rpm's) installed using "rpm -i *.rpm" plugged into the
yum database too? I mean do they get updated with yum update, etc?

If not, is there a way to make them so?
