madwifi and fedora troubles

hi everybody, well my problem is this, i have madwifi-ng-r1457 and fedora c4, i want to use my fedora as ap, so i can set everything needed, but when i try to set up essid, fedora simply do nothing, i mean everything seems to be ok, but if i type iwconfig, system shows all parameters i set except essid, where shows:
ESSID:""
besides, i want to set a dhcp server, i configured it and enabled daemon in SELinux, daemon runs, but clients always show this state:  "Acquiring network address", and any more happen, clients just stay there.  so please could somebody help and tell me what should i do to get these things working??
