Browser plug-ins....

Folks,

I don't know if this has been asked before (it probably was, but I
could not find it in the faq/newsgroups) but I have this nagging
question to ask....

When you install Fedora as a new install, why is it that the web-browser
plug-ins do not have common plug-ins installed by default?

Common ones off the top of my head, I would expect are:

1) Java (Sun or Fedora Native?)
2) Flash (Macro media or whatever)
3) PDF support (Adobe or whatever)
4) Quick-time, Real Media, ... (From vendor or at least from clones)

In short - why cause the installer (who may otherwise might not
be well-versed with computer installs) grief?

With at least the upcoming FC5, seems that we now are stuck with
a conundrum when it comes to Java - which one?  The Fedora compiled
one or the one from Sun Microsystems?  (Some sites say NOT to install
Sun's version as it *might* screw up Fedora's implementation and if
you are a new developer - what confusion!

Can anyone explain to me what I need to do, which one to choose?

If I am a regular Joe (not a developer) what is my answer?
If I am NOT a regular Joe (a developer) what is my answer?
