A question about NetworkManager

As I understand it to use NetworkManager you stop the initscript
network and start the initscripts NetworkManager and
NetworkManagerDispatcher.
 
How then do you add new interfaces (let us say wireless interfaces)?
Does system-config-network still work? Is there another configuration
program that should be used? 
I have heard of a program nm but I can't find it?
