xterm stays black in mutt with dual-head

In FC4 the xterm in dual head (Xinerama on) would occasionally
become unresponsive on startup (screen+mutt on the other end)
and need an xkill to terminate.

In FC5 xterm suddenly started working nicely -- in single head
mode. In dual head it now goes black whenever I start mutt.
Unlike in FC4 the application remains responsive -- I can
terminate mutt, and display turns to normal. 

Any idea what is going on?
