I have FC5 on several different computers and they all went well, except one,
the CDROM was so slow on read it took 3 hours to do the install!!! LOL  But
once it was in it ran fine.

I agree, before setting anything up do a yum -y update.  Be prepared it will
take a bit, but it should be worth it in the long run.
