FC5 laptop install; incorrect graphics driver

You don't have to run system-config-display under X and it owuld be
better not to run it at run level 5. Just start a terminal , change to
init level 3. Run the program and return to run level 5. It still might
not offer the right resolution but you won't have to worry about the X
system screwing things up.
