I would think Debian is only more popular that Suse because of it's
perceived stability.  If you don't want 'bleeding edge' or even 'cutting
edge', Debian is a good distro.  I am not fond of the way packages are
updated (although apt-get is a great app), but maybe I'm spoiled by
Fedora and Gentoo.
