java in Linux question

Setting JAVA_HOME to point to the installed Sun JRE location should work 
fine no matter how Sun JRE was installed; it'd be nice to see a way of 
configuring JAVA_HOME that respected the current java alternatives 
setting though (which might point to any number of JREs).
