Best way to play recording in Fedora

> (also works with ogg files)

# /usr/share/system-config-soundcard/sound-sample.wav
bash: /usr/share/system-config-soundcard/sound-sample.wav: cannot
execute binary file

# which sox
/usr/bin/sox

# yum list installed sox
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Installed Packages
sox.x86_64               12.17.9-1.2            installed


sox already installed.  Tried both user and root.

Pls advise.  TIA
