mount.cifs problem

I am running FC6 fully up to date.

When I try to mount a remote windows share on a server using:
mount -t cifs -o user=xxxx,password=yyyyyyyyyyy,uid=something,gid=something
//rentedfs1.york.ac.uk/phys /mnt/F

It gives me in /var/log/messages lines like:
Nov 16 17:51:36 gestalt kernel: CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
Nov 16 17:51:36 gestalt kernel:  CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13

I understand that there have been recent cifs problems in the kernel but does
anyone know if there is a workaround that will enable the share to be mounted?

(The mount point did already exist and was not the reason for the error)

I have seen various postings in a number of lists showing cifs problems but I
have not seen a solution yet.

Thanks
Mike
