But, the dmesg dump at bootup is dumped into the syslog channel too, so it 
does become part of the messages log after the syslogging facility is 
started.  That way, the messages log has it all unless you redirect a 
given process to its own log, as I do for at least 3 items to simplify 
searching for miss-fires.  I keep individual logs for heyu, fetchmail and 
procmail.

Now if logrotate would work...  Its not. See my other post.
