Probably not.  I'd call it a shortcoming, but the authors would probably
say it's running as it was designed to.

While I think it'd probably be more of a drag for it to constantly check
for changes, perhaps there ought to be some way of doing a rescan for
additions.  Anything that installed a Nautilus plug-in could issue such
a command as its last intallation action.
