Desktop effects really slow

I am though - that's why I'm so confused!

I installed the nvidia driver from livna, and it's being used by xorg
right now.  I even turned off kernel support for agp, and turned on
nvidia's agp support.  I'm still seeing piss poor 3D performance.  Me =
mystified.
