I've been happy with OpenDocMan

http://www.opendocman.com

The development effort could be labled as "slow", but for my usage the product has been very stable. The web interface is pretty simple, but straightforward and easy to use.

Subject:	document management system (dms), open source.

I am researching document management systems for a project and so I
was looking for some opinions on what people have seen out in the
market, or even what people have already tried.

One that I am looking into is http://www.knowledgetree.com/, usually
what I end up finding is content management systems and such, this is
actually for paper that we are scanning in electronically, and then
placing the scans in the dms.
