How to create a DVD image with very large files?

Then use Linux RAR to split the *.tar file.

I got my copy from DRIES for FC4.

rar-3.5.1-1.2.fc4.rf

You could also create par2 files for recovery if you need to ensure that 
this data is saved.

par2cmdline-0.4-10.fc4
