FC 64 bits on Intel Core 2 duo

The last time I tried x86_64, I had much more problems then improvements. 
There was no 64 bit browser plugins (flash and java, mainly), no 64 bit 
codecs for mplayer and a lot more importante stuff was not available. Has 
this been improved in the last couple of years?
