Reasons behind Fedora package updates

Is there a way to see the reasons why updates are published for
some Fedora packages?  For example, I would like to know the reasons
behind the release of kernel 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5, but the change log
in the RPM itself only contains entries up to August 7th.

In some cases, the update is due to a security advisory, and I
would sometimes like to see the advisory for myself.

fedora-announce-list seems to only announce general news.
