Ah, so you deleted the directory before installing OOo? If you deleted
it after installing, that could be a problem, depending on whether OOo
will rebuild a missing directory.

Ask the sys admin of the NFS share host whether it handles file locks
correctly. If you are the sysadmin, and it is a recent version of
Linux or *BSD, it most likely does handle file locks correctly.
