FC Upgrade 3 -> 6 : install process does not see disks

no, there's nothing fancy going on here.  just trying to upgrade to a a
plain old SATA disk using linux (83) partitions.
i do have a SCSI installed in the machine, but that shouldn't affect
anything, right?  right? :-(
