Gnome - Terminal Maximise Problem

First of all I owuld install:   
nautilus-open-terminal-0.7-3.fc6

which would allow you to open a gnome-terminal by right clicking on the
desktop. Then I would increase the terminal size by typing ctrl-+ which
will allow you to increase its size in steps instead of taking up the
whole screen. Reduce size by typing ctrl - '-'.

Also if you make an applet to open a gnome-terminal you could probably
open it initially to any size you want using the --geometry option.
