Convert PDF to Text?

Is there some specific way to open a PDF file with Kwrite?

I tried this but it gives a warning that the file is binary 
and saving it will corrupt the file. The file opens but it 
is binary code that I have no idea how to convert to plain 
text even if I copied some of it to another file.
