My guess is that it's because Intel 965 chipset is blacklisted in
compiz-manager.  You can prevent it from checking the blacklist by
putting the following line in ~/.config/compiz/compiz-manager:
SKIP_CHECKS=yes

Given the open/free nature of the intel driver, I'd expect the problems
to be resolved soon and 965 removed from the blacklist.
