Cannot upgrade box to Fedora 8... DVD stalled on vmlinuz... Ready!

If that happened to me, I would try the Fedora-8 KDE Live CD.
If that worked OK, it would mean that Fedora-8 will certainly run
on this machine, sooner or later ...
