Re: cannot remove files from /tmp

Rick,

Thanks, but I tried all that . I cannot change the ownership nor the permissions ( as root ) . Maybe I can give root temporary "rpm" permissions (group member) ? I am not sure this will work or if I dare.

Thing is, that at startup the system cannot remove these files either.
I was wondering if I could run "fsck" or something on an mounted system ( or specific directory ).
Possibly these are not really files, but just corrupted entries ?
I am open to suggestions ... ( formatting is not an option :-b )

you need to fix the ownerships/permissions on those files. they are
owned/grouped by/to 1 (which is probably bin) and rpm, with only the
group (rpm) able to write/delete them (and not all of them at that).
bin isn't in the group rpm by default.

i'd just likely change them to be owned by root and make them writable
by owner, and then delete them. **all with appropriate care of
course**.

I have a problem removing files from the /tmp directory ...
At startup the system cannot remove them either

This probably happened with the recent crashes I have with my FC4/6
system ( or maybe they are the cause of it ? )
.... any suggestions ?
