You may want to take a look at the cifs (man mount.cifs). It is a
replacement for smbmount. Note - unless it is set to suid, a user
can not use it. But if you are using the same share all the time,
you could create a fstab entry for it that is user mountable. It is
also possible to create a "Places" entry for the share that will let
you "drag & drop" file to/from the share.
